Need a haircut in this country? You might want to think twice before spending a fortune to get a trim here
Haircut costs vary wildly around the world, with some countries charging over $100 and others offering trims for loose change.

How much is too much for a haircut? The answer probably depends on a few things, including how high personal grooming sits on your list of priorities and, of course, where you live.
Still, most of us would probably agree that $102.20 is far too much to hand over for a trim, while $1.65 feels like the kind of bargain you’d brag about for weeks.
Study reveals global haircut prices
In 2021, NetCredit took a closer look at how much it costs to get your hair cut in 102 capital cities where data was available. The research compared the average prices of women’s and men’s cuts, then worked out a combined national average for each country.
It likely won’t shock anyone to hear that women’s cuts cost more in nearly every country, all but 11 of the 112 nations surveyed. The main reason? Men generally have less hair, spend less time in the chair, and use fewer products.
Denmark tops the list for women’s cuts
That $102.20 figure belongs to Denmark, home to the most expensive women’s haircut in the world. The United States isn’t far behind at $95.
On the flip side, if you ever find yourself in Bosnia and fancy a trim, go for it, it’ll only set you back $6.20, the cheapest price anywhere on the planet.
Norway takes the crown for men’s cuts
We stay in Scandinavia for the priciest men’s haircut, although we move north to Norway, where a cut will cost you $64.50. The U.S. again sits high on the list at $44.
If you’re visiting Zambia, though, you might want to book that haircut. Men’s cuts there cost just $1.65, the lowest in the world.
Denmark also most expensive overall
When combining the average price of men’s and women’s cuts, Denmark ($75.20) just edges out Norway ($71.11) as the world’s most expensive country, with the United States ($69.50) taking an unwanted bronze.
The world’s cheapest places for a haircut
At the other end of the scale, Argentina offers the best deal anywhere, an average cut for just $5.24. Zambia follows close behind at $5.26, with the Philippines in third at $6.06.
So, depending on where you’re headed, that next trip to the barber could either break the bank, or barely touch your wallet.
