National Taco Day: Where you can get freebies, deals and discounts on your favorite Mexican food
Since last year, National Taco Day has been held on the first Tuesday of October. Find out where you can get your fill of cut-price tacos.
Having had its date moved a few times, National Taco Day had been celebrated on October 4 in recent years. In 2024, however, Taco Bell and the National Day Calendar announced that the celebration had a new slot in the calendar.
The day is now held on the first Tuesday of October, ensuring that it always falls on Taco Tuesday.
This year, that means National Taco Day is set for Tuesday, October 7. And, as ever, restaurants will be marking the occasion with special deals on this popular Mexican dish. You’ll find three such promotions below:
National Taco Day 2025 deals, discounts and freebies:
Taco Bell
The country’s most popular Mexican restaurant chain, which trademarked the term “Taco Tuesday” but has since liberated it for all to use, will be serving up $1 tacos the whole day.
Available to all rewards members, the promo begins at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT, with the release of the first batch of 25,000 Cantina Chicken Soft Tacos for $1.
After that, three more rounds of the taco will be available throughout the day. Here is Taco Bell’s schedule for the release of each $1 taco:
- 2 p.m. ET: $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Taco
- 4 p.m. ET: $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Taco
- 6 p.m. ET: $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Taco
- 8 p.m. ET: $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Taco
Taco Bell will also be handing out National Taco Day T-shirts, $5 discounts via the Taco Bell app, and a buy-one-get-one-for-free promotion on the delivery app DoorDash. You’ll find full details on the restaurant’s website.
Condado Tacos
The Midwestern taco chain has said it will be handing out half-price tacos on October 7.
El Pollo Loco
The Mexican-style chicken chain will reportedly be celebrating National Taco Day - and the build-up to it - by offering customers three tacos for $5 from October 3 to 7.
Taco restaurants such as Long John Silver’s and Taco John’s also tend to run National Taco Day promos, but they were yet to confirm their plans at the time of writing.
