How the government shutdown is related to the Epstein files and how it benefits President Trump

Update:

As much as Donald Trump will tell you from behind his Oval Office desk that the government shutdown is the fault of the Democrats, the truth is murkier than a simple spat between opposing sides.

Like many stories involving Trump and his old acquaintances — take Jeffrey Epstein, for example — scratching below the surface of the story reveals that the hole is a lot deeper than it first appeared. Whether by design or otherwise, Donald Trump has become the master of mirrors, with deflection tactics and distraction capabilities highlighting a deep mastery of the art that his discombobulated outward persona appears to reject.

With the latest government shutdown, headlines will be swamped with stories of national park bins overflowing and federal air conditioning units blowing to a halt, but with that, one story has been pushed to the back of the queue: the release of the Epstein files.

It’s almost as though it was done on purpose. Prior to the shutdown, every news outlet, both left and right, was dominated by the supposed files regarding the dead pedophile, a close contact in Trump’s past. The two, as we know, dillied and dallied together on Epstein’s private island before he was convicted of his crimes.

And now, there is no word of it. Of course, even if there were to be mention of how the files have been flung to the side, there wouldn’t be any government official around to do anything about it. “It’s totally absurd!” House Speaker Mike Johnson loudly exclaimed during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press when asked whether the shutdown was being used to blanket the story. “This has nothing to do with that. It’s another red herring.”

Of course, he immediately took out his Republican Strategy book and thumbed to page one, where he found the words: “Blame Democrats”.

“The reason the government is closed is because Ch- Chu- Chuck Schumer and, erm, 43 of his Democrat colleagues in the Senate have decided now to vote multiple times to keep the government closed,” Johnson nervously fumbled, blinking over twenty times (yes, I counted) in four seconds.

For Trump, the shutdown couldn’t be more convenient. Not only does it distract from growing calls to fully unseal Epstein’s connections to whomever they may be, but it also temporarily halts any congressional oversight that could drag Trump’s name further into the scandal.

Simply put, the longer the government stays closed, the less scrutiny he faces. Add to that the fact that Trump’s ability to close off Democratic programs, cut Federal aid, and storm blue states with troops under the guise of civil war, and you’ve got yourself a superb roadmap to authoritarianism.
