Could Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez run for president in 2028? Here’s what insiders say about AOC’s White House plans
Thanks to her plans that appear to benefit public life, AOC for president is gathering pace.

The race for 2028 is on — and there’s more than one contest to watch. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a hugely popular figure in certain circles, with her sharp critiques of Republican ideology mixed with progressive views of her own proving a big hit for many.
Given her rising popularity and growing experience in the corridors of power, it appears likely she may be plotting a bid to succeed some of the biggest names in the game when 2028 comes around.
According to Axios’ Alex Thompson, AOC and her allies are preparing for a major 2028 political campaign that could see her throw her hat in the ring — either to succeed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), or to aim for the White House altogether.
Thompson writes that some “believe that even if Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t think she could win, she may want to run for the White House to ensure that the Democratic Party’s progressive wing is represented in the primary.”
Dismissing AOC nomination “the height of arrogance”
A longtime protégé of Bernie Sanders, AOC appears to be managing the transition to a new generation of progressive leadership well. “She has a supporter base that, in many ways, has a larger potential width than Bernie’s. She has been in the glare of the spotlight from day one and has the national campaigning experience a lot of other potential candidates are now trying to get,” Ari Rabin-Havt, a longtime Sanders aide, told Axios, before warning that “it would be the height of arrogance to assume she couldn’t win the 2028 nomination.”
As the United States creeps towards authoritarianism, it’s encouraging to hear that the noises from the left are slightly more coherent — and dare I say, more exciting — than in recent years, when it seemed as though anyone identifying as a progressive was pushed aside by the old guard in their blue ties..
We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was: a man who believed that the Civil Rights Act that granted Black Americans the right to vote was a “mistake,” who after the violent attack on Paul Pelosi claimed that “some amazing patriot out there” should bail out his assailant, and… https://t.co/zm6kxIxLZk
