Comedian Phoebe Robinson bashes Joe Rogan and other manosphere podcasters: “You have to live with what you did”

Update:

Phoebe Robinson, like many others, has heard enough from the podcasters now claiming regret for helping Donald Trump rise to potential dictator. In a new episode of The Last Laugh podcast, the comedian takes direct aim at Joe Rogan, Theo Von, and other figures she says “helped humanize a monster” for millions of young male listeners.

Trump’s ”been a monster for decades”

“The same guys who built platforms on mocking women and minorities are suddenly shocked Trump is doing what he always said he would,” Robinson said. “You have to live with what you did. We know who you voted for… own it.” Here’s then candidate Trump with Rogan.

For Robinson, the “manosphere” has replaced curiosity with combat. What once felt like an intimate, creative space – like her own 2 Dope Queens podcast with Jessica Williams – has become, she says, “rife with everyone yelling at each other instead of listening.”

Calling out hypocrisy in comedy

Robinson also criticized comedians who accepted Saudi money to perform at the Riyadh Comedy Festival, calling it “greedy” and “morally bankrupt.” The problem, she added, is a comedy scene too willing to trade conscience for cash or clicks.

The comic, who once interviewed Michelle Obama and later joined her Becoming book tour, ended with a plea for perspective. “Let people live,” she said of the endless celebrity gossip cycle. “There are more important things to care about than whether two people you don’t know are still in love.”
