Battleship, Trivial Pursuit — and even snow? Here are the Toy Hall of Fame nominees and how to vote
The public can let their voices be heard on what games should be inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame. Here’s a look at the nominees and how to vote.

“Play has the power to teach, spark imagination, and create joy,” states the Strong National Museum of Play, one of the largest historical museums in the United States. It is the home of the Toy Hall of Fame and has opened voting to the public for which three toys, of the twelve nominated this year, should be inducted.
The institution, which was founded by Margaret Woodbury Strong in 1968, has been recognizing “toys that have inspired creative play and enjoyed popularity over a sustained period,” since 1998. The competition is stiff this year to fill the three annual slots to join the 87 other toys that have already recognized.
2025 Toy Hall of Fame nominees
Anyone can nominate a toy, but they must meet certain criteria in order to be considered including icon-status, longevity, discovery, and innovation.
This year’s nominees include the following:
- Battleship
- Catan
- Connect 4
- Cornhole
- Furby
- Scooter
- Slime
- Snow
- Spirograph
- Star Wars Lightsaber
- Tickle Me Elmo
- Trivial Pursuit
The public will have until Wednesday 24 September to vote on their favorites. The three that garner the most votes will make up the “Player’s Choice” ballot. The public’s vote counts as one alongside those of the 22-member National Selection Advisory Committee, consisting of educators, historians, and other experts.
The results will be announced in November.
