Update:

Bank of America is preparing to close all of its branches across the United States on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. The bank confirmed that all locations will suspend in-person operations that day and resume normal service on Wednesday morning.

As part of the Federal Reserve’s official holiday calendar, financial institutions – including Bank of America – close on the 11 recognized federal holidays each year, giving employees the day off. Customers are encouraged to plan ahead for any in-person banking needs.

Other major banks will also close on Veterans Day, including Wells Fargo, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Chase, Citibank, U.S. Bank, SunTrust Bank, Capital One, Citizens Bank, Santander Bank, BBVA and Compass. While physical branches will remain closed, online banking and ATMs will continue to operate as usual.

Which businesses close on Veterans Day

As a federal holiday, government offices are required by law to close, giving federal employees a paid day off. However, private institutions such as schools, companies, and retailers can decide whether to stay open.

In addition to banks, post offices, stock exchanges, public libraries, and schools typically close for Veterans Day. Pharmacies, supermarkets, and restaurants usually stay open with normal business hours.

Bank of America and other banks will also close for Thanksgiving and Christmas

Banks follow the federal holiday schedule, which includes both fixed and variable dates. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it is observed on the preceding Friday; if it falls on a Sunday, it is observed the following Monday.

Earlier this year, banks closed for New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day.

After Veterans Day on November 11, the final two federal holidays of the year will be Thanksgiving Day on November 27 and Christmas Day on December 25, when all major US banks – including Bank of America – will also close.
