Airbnb host takes heat over house not being ideal for obese guests: “My house didn’t perfectly accommodate their size”

An Airbnb host has gone viral after revealing he received a two-star review from guests who claimed his home wasn’t “weight accessible.”

The TikToker, posting under @crazybnbstories, shared that the guests complained about not fitting through the doorway, wobbly furniture, and a 330-pound limit on an outdoor egg chair, all of which left them feeling excluded.

“I guess they were on the larger side and my house didn’t perfectly accommodate their size,” he said in the video, noting that his home has standard door frames and that the chair’s weight limit was set by the manufacturer, not him.

The guests also reportedly said his bed was too soft and that they felt like they might “cave into the middle” when lying on it together. His dry on-camera response: “I might say this house isn’t a good fit for you.”

The incident set off a wave of online commentary. Many plus-size viewers sided with the host, calling the complaints “entitled” and arguing that personal responsibility matters when booking accommodations. “It’s no one’s job but mine to make sure it’s somewhere I’ll be comfortable,” wrote one commenter.

Does Airbnb need a ‘weight accessible’ filter?

Airbnb already offers filters for accessibility, such as listing homes with doorways wider than 32 inches. But there’s no specific setting for guests seeking weight-rated furniture or reinforced beds, raising the question of whether there should be.

For his part, the host doesn’t seem fazed. “Not a learning lesson for me,” he said. “Hopefully just for them.”
