A couple pays $2.50 for incredible luxury item worth over $1,500 while thrifting: “The lucky finds are out there”
You never know what you might come across when you go out thrifting. One couple who has made it their side hustle discovered yet another treasure.

John and Francis Ebeck got into thrifting a few years back to take their minds off of back-to-back deaths in their families. The couple from Ottawa, Canada has now turned thrifting into quite the side hustle, bringing in much needed extra money.
They’ve developed quite an eye for finding treasures scooping a 14k gold watch in a free bin and picking up a Tombstone movie poster autographed by Val Kilmer for just $20. “The lucky finds are out there,” Francis told Newsweek. “You just have to be really dedicated to the hunt.”

That dedication paid off recently when they visited a private estate sale in Lenexa, Kansas Francis told Newsweek. John, who has always been interested in foxes and wolves, was looking for beltbuckles but when he saw a distinct wolf-head clip he had to go check it out.
When he saw that it was being sold for just $2.50, “he didn’t need much convincing,” she shared. So, he put it in the box of goods they had picked out but didn’t mention it until they got home.
When he showed it to his wife, given his penchant for the wild canines, she didn’t think much of it until he told her, “Oh look, it’s made by Gucci.” She thought he was lying, but sure enough, behind one of the ears were stamped the words “Gucci Italy.”

A quick search online revealed that it was in fact a letter clip from the luxury fashion label dating back to the 1970s. Furthermore, an identical piece had sold for $1,500 previously.
When they posted their find on Reddit, others users told them that similar pieces had sold for hundreds, or even thousands of dollars. The couple could have another pay day on their hands when they find a buyer.
“I was excited, but my husband was sad,” Francis told Newsweek. “He would have liked to have kept it.”
