“2 to 1 in favor”: the unusual method Elon Musk used to decide whether or not he should establish the “America Party”
The billionaire owner of X used the poll feature on the social media platform to gauge interest in a third political party in the US.

On the Fourth of July, billionaire Elon Musk launched a poll on his X account, asking followers whether they believed the US needed a third party.
After the 24-hour survey, two-thirds of respondents said they supported the creation of a new party to challenge what Musk has described as the “uni-party system” in Washington, D.C.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party—and you shall have it,” Musk said in announcing the poll results.

When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.
Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom. https://t.co/9K8AD04QQN
The idea of starting a new party has been on Musk’s mind since his major falling-out with the Trump White House following his departure from the administration. Shortly after leaving Doge, the billionaire began criticizing the GOP spending bill in Congress, calling it an “abomination.” The comment drew a wave of personal attacks from President Trump, who threatened to eliminate many of the federal contracts and subsidies that benefit Musk’s companies.

Musk says the America Party would start small
Rather than trying to get on the ballot in all 50 states, Musk has said he plans to focus on “2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts.” He believes that by winning these races, the party could send representatives to Capitol Hill to “vote on contentious laws.” Exactly which seats he plans to target remains unclear. Critics—including former ally President Trump—have warned that the effort could backfire for conservatives by splitting the vote and handing electoral wins to the Democratic Party.
President Trump lashes out once again
After the official announcement that the party would be formed, President Trump took to Truth Social to voice his discontent. The president said that Musk had gone “off the rails” and had become a “train wreck” since leaving the White House. Trump added that third parties have not been successful, and that he believed Musk should unify behind the Republican party, which he described as a “smooth running machine.” The president also reiterated that much of Musk’s frustration with the ‘one big beautiful bill’ stems from the elimination of the EV mandate.
Musk has responded to these comments by once again pointing to the president’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, insinuating that the Trump administration hasn’t released more information about the child predator because it would implicate the president.
