Update:

Paris Jackson says a dream made her confront something she’d never spoken about publicly. In a TikTok video posted on Monday, the 27-year-old actress and musician – apparently her dad did some tunes too – told followers she’d dreamt she was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, discussing mental health and the “illegal in other countries” chemicals in American food. Then, as she put it, “I realized I’ve never actually addressed this.”

What followed was a startling moment of honesty. Jackson tilted her head back, shone her phone’s light up her nose, and revealed a small hole between her nostrils – a perforated septum caused by past drug use.

“I have a really loud whistle when I breathe through my nose,” she said. “That is from what you think it’s from. Don’t do drugs, kids,” before clarifying that she was in no position to teach people what life lessons to avoid.

How long has Paris Jackson been sober?

The singer, who has been sober for six years, said she’s lived with the damage since she was 20. She doesn’t plan to undergo corrective surgery, though, explaining, “You have to take pills when you have a surgery that gnarly,” and she didn’t want to do that. Still, she admitted the condition can be “a bitch” in the recording studio, before lightening the tone by joking she could “thread a spaghetti noodle through it.”

Her candid video arrived a month after she received the Shining Star Award at the Friendly House Awards Luncheon in Los Angeles, where she reflected on her recovery journey. “I didn’t just get my life back. I got a better one,” she said.
