The upcoming film being called “the biggest movie ever made”
Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” promises cinematic spectacle, with Matt Damon delivering a performance called “pure gold.”

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film “The Odyssey” is already generating massive excitement. Sean Avery, a frequent Nolan collaborator who worked on “Tenet” and “Oppenheimer,” recently called the film “the biggest movie ever made.”
“It’s the biggest movie ever made,” Avery said. “We shot in five countries. No CGI. No green screens in the middle of the ocean. We filmed in Sicily, Greece, Iceland, and Scotland. It was incredible. Matt Damon is solid fucking gold. What a beauty. Ben Affleck came and watched one day. Those two are that tight, he came to watch his buddy work.”
Who’s who in Nolan’s “The Odyssey”
Even without seeing the film, the cast reads like a Hollywood dream team. Avery joins a roster that includes:
- Matt Damon as Odysseus
- Tom Holland as Telemachus, Odysseus’ son
- Anne Hathaway as Penelope, the loyal wife waiting in Ithaca
- Zendaya as Athena, Odysseus’ divine protector
- Charlize Theron as Circe, the sorceress who turns men into pigs
- Benny Safdie as Agamemnon, hero of the Trojan War
- Lupita Nyong’o as Clytemnestra, queen of Mycenae and Agamemnon’s wife
Other confirmed cast members include Robert Pattinson, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, and Elliot Page, though their roles have not yet been revealed.

Historians raise concerns
Nolan also faces scrutiny from history enthusiasts on social media, with early reactions targeting the film’s costume choices.
“One of those vambraces is pure Hollywood invention. It never existed in Greece or Rome. If anything, it should be gold or silver, this is the king of Ithaca,” one online historian commented. “The helmet is completely wrong, too. A proper hoplite helmet would make more sense for Odysseus’ era. That one wouldn’t protect anyone and the spikes are more dangerous than helpful.”
Another critic added, “The armor is fake. It looks like plastic, and black would never be used, it’s a funeral color. Real armor was bronze or brightly colored. The cape is a joke too, missing a proper clasp. They could take advice from historical consultants someday, but today is not that day.”
