Leonardo DiCaprio chooses the best movies made by Steven Spielbert, Stanley Kubrick and Christoper Nolan
In an interview alongside Benicio del Toro, Leonardo DiCaprio shared which films defined the genius of three legendary directors.

When two of Hollywood’s most respected actors sit down to talk about movies, you know something special is coming. That’s exactly what happened when Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro joined Collider for a conversation about their latest project, One Battle After Another — and the chat quickly turned into a deep dive into their favorite directors.
Nolan: The Dark Knight Still Reigns
And for modern auteur Christopher Nolan, the verdict was unanimous again. Both DiCaprio and del Toro chose The Dark Knight, the 2008 superhero landmark that redefined what comic book movies could be.
You can watch ‘The Dark Knight’ on HBO Max, as well as ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, so you can watch Nolan’s complete Batman trilogy.
Kubrick: A Shared Masterpiece
When it came to Stanley Kubrick, both actors agreed there was no contest. Their favorite is 2001: A Space Odyssey. Although they both agreed on several other titles the iconic director worked on that would be right up at the top of the list too, the 1968 sci-fi movie truly stood out.
“Talk about a movie that was so ahead of its time. It’s just incredible,” said DiCaprio. “Beyond the movie, it’s kind of a spiritual experience.”
You can watch ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ on HBO Max.
Spielberg: The film that defined an era
When asked to pick their favorite Steven Spielberg movie, DiCaprio had to hesitate a little saying, “he’s done so many masterpieces. It’s hard to pick, right?” He finally settle on his top choice, Jaws.
Del Toro, on the other hand, went with a classic of a different kind: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Spielberg’s timeless ode to childhood wonder and connection.
You can stream Jaws on Netflix and Peacock, while E.T. is available on Netflix.
