Dolly Parton health update: The country singer’s sister makes worrying plea to fans

Worry has spread among fans of country music icon Dolly Parton, following the 78-year-old’s announcement that she would be suspending her Las Vegas performances due to health issues. The concern deepened when her sister, Freida Parton, took to Facebook to ask followers to pray for her, suggesting that the singer’s condition might be more serious than initially thought.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida began. ”Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me... She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

Dolly Parton’s statement on her condition

Last month, the “9 to 5” singer released her own message explaining the situation. “As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health issues, and my doctors tell me I need to undergo a few procedures,” she said in her statement. “As I joked with them, it must be time for my regular maintenance – though not my usual visit to the plastic surgeon! Seriously though, because of this, I won’t be able to rehearse and put together the kind of show I want you to see, and that you deserve. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to give you my best.”

Parton’s Las Vegas residency, originally set for early December at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, has been rescheduled for September 2026, with performances on the 17th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 25th and 26th. Tickets purchased for the original shows will remain valid for the new dates, though fans unable to attend will be offered refunds.
