Bad news for James Bond fans: The wait continues for the next 007 movie

The future of James Bond is on pause—and all eyes are on Denis Villeneuve. The acclaimed director is currently deep into production on Dune: Part Three, and according to producer David Heyman, Bond fans will have to wait a while longer before 007 returns to the big screen.

In a recent interview with Collider, Heyman—best known for producing the Harry Potter films—confirmed that the next Bond installment doesn’t even have a release window yet.

“The only thing that I have control over to a degree is finding projects and working with great, talented people who I believe can have the possibility to make something extraordinary,” he said. “It wasn’t always the case. When you start off, you don’t have that opportunity… and now I’m in a very privileged position.”

No timetable set

As for timelines, Heyman made it clear: the next Bond film is still a ways off. So fans might want to revisit the classics or look forward to 007: First Light, a new video game slated for release in March 2026—assuming there are no delays.

Amazon now holds the creative rights to the James Bond franchise, but longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson remain closely involved. The most recent film, No Time to Die, hit theaters in 2021 and marked Daniel Craig’s emotional farewell to the iconic role.
